Travel Information and tips

  Baggage and Insurance

Oakland Tours & Safaris highly recommends clients arrange for travel insurance to cover for medical emergencies, injury, damage or loss of baggage, plus general travel insurance to cover cancellation charges and medical expenses. Just in case! We offer travel and medical insurance packages suited to your itinerary, business travel or emergencies.

  VISA and Entry

For detailed information please refer to the official country pages for specific information required before travel. Issues of concern are VISA eligibility and application requirements, mandatory vaccinations, travel alerts and weather.

  Ground Transportation

Except where road conditions are very rugged, we use minibuses for our safari tours in Kenya. These vehicles are custom built and have good ground clearance making them particularly suitable for safari work.

  Children and Infants

All hotels, lodges and national parks offer a reduction for children under 12 years of age provided they occupy a third bed in a twin room sharing with two adults. Please indicate age at the time of check out.

  Professional Driver/Guides

Our English speaking driver/guides are familiar with routes and local conditions. They have an excellent knowledge of wildlife, local people and other local attractions. They are also expert game spotters.

  Escorts & Couriers

Some of our more specialized tours include the services of a local courier e.g. Mountain climbing & Maasai Village Tours, in addition to the services of the driver/guides. These couriers have been carefully selected.
